Ryder’s on the company bonding trip from hell, five days of competitive cycling with competitive colleagues and an even more competitive boss. Faced with yet another vertical climb, he ignores his insistent inner voice and decides that not only can he not keep up, he’s had enough. It appears the weather thinks he should stop, too, when sun turns to thick fog. Disorientated, Ryder brakes hard and flies over the handlebars into oblivion.
Callan’s at Whittaker’s Auction House to bid on fae land that his werewolf pack need as their new home, when an unsuspecting human stumbles through the door. Ryder is out of place, out of luck, way out of his depth—and apparently the newest item on the auctioneer’s block. Tempting, if Callan had the money.
As the bidding heats up and Ryder proves irresistible to the assembled fae, vampires and witches, the situation grows more and more precarious. Callan can’t help interfering. He wants Ryder but at what cost? If he goes back without the land, he’ll infuriate his Alpha and put the pack’s future at risk.
But there’s something about Ryder that Callan cannot resist. How far is he prepared to go in order to get him?
To Follow In A Few Days
Ryder lay on his back, waiting for his heart to calm, his breathing to ease, and for reality to return. He got two out of the three. Oh God, that had been…intense, overwhelming, hot, good…
more than good
Except for Callan pulling out so fast and flinging himself away when his body had screamed for that not to happen, it would have been perfect. But Ryder understood why. He grabbed a handful of the crazy snow and rubbed it over his chest, wiping away the smears of come. The snow dissolved into warm water against his skin but wasn’t dissolving under his body. As if he wasn’t freaked out enough…
None of this made sense, so maybe it was better not to think too hard about it, nor dwell on what might happen if he didn’t manage to come four more times in however long was left of the thirty minutes. Though they’d discovered one of Padraig’s traps. Ryder couldn’t make himself come, well not by his own hand. Yet Ryder had the horrible suspicion that at the end of the allotted time—and neither of us is wearing a watch—for fuck’s sake—and does time even work the same here? I should have asked—there would be something they’d done wrong, something that enabled Padraig to claim victory, take the land and eventually…maybe…my life. He shuddered.
But if Padraig could trick them, maybe they could trick him. Ryder had an idea.
“Are you okay?” Callan reached for Ryder’s hand and squeezed his fingers.
“Uh huh. This has turned into the best dream I’ve ever had.”
“You didn’t howl. If I’m being honest, I’m a touch disappointed.”
“I’m working up to the howl. You rendered me howl-less. A rare thing. Wow. I think I’d been saving that up. I almost hit my mouth.”
Callan’s shoulders shook as he laughed. “Why does almost make me feel a failure?”
“Better luck next time. Well done on not coming. Are you okay?”
“Hanging on. Just.”
“Do you need me to give you some unsexy thoughts?”
Callan rolled on his side to look at him. “Such as?”
“This one is guaranteed to reduce desire. Apparently, when frogs throw up, they vomit out their entire stomach, then use their forearms to pull out the stomach’s contents before swallowing the organ back down again.”
“Yep, that worked.” Callan squirmed to Ryder’s side and leaned against him. “But only for a moment because I don’t think I can stop wanting you. Thank fuck you came so fast because… Can you do it again?”
Barbara Elsborg lives in Kent in the south of England. She always wanted to be a spy, but having confessed to everyone without them even resorting to torture, she decided it was not for her. Volcanology scorched her feet. A morbid fear of sharks put paid to marine biology. So instead, she spent several years successfully selling cyanide.
After dragging up two rotten, ungrateful children and frustrating her sexy, devoted, wonderful husband (who can now stop twisting her arm) she finally has time to conduct an affair with an electrifying plugged-in male, her laptop.
She writes stories about two guys, two guys and one woman, and one guy and one woman in most genres—contemporary, paranormal, sci fi, suspense, urban fantasy. Her books feature bad boys and quirky heroines, and she hopes they are as much fun to read as they are to write.
